Pursuit of Equality

Press Release

Celebrating a fundamental freedom

Tenika Small, September 11th, 2008

Fashion icon Wilkes Bashford and San Francisco Philanthropist Christopher Bently host a fundraising wedding event for NO on 8-Equality California

Informal fashion show, cocktails and dinner by the bite for San Francisco and Bay Area donors

In an effort to protect the humanity and diversity of San Francisco, Wilkes Bashford and Christopher Bently have enrolled the support of Civil Rights Activist Mayor Gavin Newsom, First Lady of San Francisco Jennifer Siebel Newsom and award-winning Film Producer Geoff Callan. The group will co-chair Pursuit of Equality. This fundraiser shares the title of the critically acclaimed documentary produced by Callan himself, and will raise money and awareness for NO on 8-Equality California (eqca.org). On Oct. 24, guests will have the opportunity to support the foundation of marriage by attending this fundraising wedding event.

The State found that marriage is a freedom that surpasses gender; however, proposition 8 aims to repeal this fundamental liberty. NO on 8-Equality California seeks to educate potential voters on the freedom each Californian has to marry.

Inspired by the informative window display at Wilkes Bashford, models on wedding cake toppers will be exhibited throughout the Bently Reserve.

Award-winning actress Rita Moreno, former Mayor Willie Brown and surprised guests will give special toasts during the event.

Tickets are available for purchase by visiting http://www.pursuitofequality.org. For more information on the event or how to become a sponsor, please contact Craig Lipton at 415.362.7400 or crlipton@crpr.biz.
